Padel clubs in Romania

Padel is a racket sport, played in doubles on a court 20 metres long and 10 metres wide. The court is smaller than a tennis court and enclosed by glass and mesh. The serve is underhand, and the points follow tennis: 15, 30, 40, game. Once the ball has bounced inside the court, it can come off the glass or the mesh and still be in play. Most matches are the best of three sets. On Padel Rankup you can look up clubs and courts, and book a time when the club takes online bookings.

The serve is underhand and diagonal, into the opposite service box. It has to bounce there, and the return of serve must bounce too. After that you can volley, or play the ball after a single bounce, including off the glass or the mesh. A ball that hits a wall before it bounces is out. Either pair can win a point, and the game, whether they are serving or not. One pair serves the whole game, then the serve passes to the other pair. A set usually goes to the first pair to reach six games with a lead of two, or to a tie-break at 6–6. In a best of three, the first pair to win two sets takes the match. Some matches use a shorter format, so check the listing before you join.

Start with a city you can reach without a long trip. From there, compare how many courts a club has and whether they are indoor or outdoor. Indoor courts are the more reliable option when the weather turns. The club page shows the rating, the reviews, and whether you can book online. Clubs here are grouped by country, then by county and city. Open a club to see its courts, and book when online booking is available.

If you need people to play with, look at the open matches on Padel Rankup. Play lists the ones that still have free spots, with the club, the time, and how many players are still needed. Join a match that suits you, or create one and leave the other spots open. A match is four players, two pairs, and each player pays their own share of the court.

A padel racket has a solid, perforated face and no strings. While you are still learning to place the ball, a rounder shape is the more forgiving choice. A teardrop puts more weight in the head, and that only helps once your contact is already consistent. The balls look like tennis balls, with a little less pressure, so the bounce sits lower. A herringbone sole holds the sand on the court better than a running shoe. Some clubs will lend a racket for a first visit, but do not assume yours will. Ask before you go.
